Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been proud to work with Thrombosis UK for a number of years and when they invited me to be part of the #StepUpToStopClots initiative, I jumped at the chance. Almost literally.
I’ve always been active. I enjoyed playing tennis when I was younger, before taking up running at University. I’ve competed in various events from 10K’s to Marathons and the odd Triathlon thrown in here and there.
Now, like a lot of people, I am time pressured. I have a full-time job, a fiancé (who also works full-time) and two kids at school age. But no excuses, being active is fundamentally important to all of our lives.
So how do I fit it in?
My aim is to complete a series of challenges, not only personally for me, but also involving my family. I want to raise awareness of this great cause along the way, through a series of sports based fundraising activities.
Why am I doing this ?
When I talk to my friends and colleagues, they are astounded to hear the statistical facts concerning thrombosis.
It’s startling to think that 1 in 4 people worldwide are dying from conditions caused by thrombosis.
Thrombosis to this day remains a major cause of death in the UK yet many people have little or no understanding about the causes and effects of thrombosis, and how it can be prevented.
This is true not only with the general public, but also health care professionals.
To this end, I hope my fundraising activities, which, will no doubt bring a few laughs, blood sweat and tears (not only mine), help raise awareness and inspire other people to get involved, get active and get fundraising.

Remember, Thrombosis can effect anyone, irrespective of age, colour or creed.
