Story
I lost my Fiancé, my Best Friend, my Soul Mate. Neil passed away on the 13th September 2021, just 8 days after his diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. He was taken to soon.
As you can imagine it came as a huge shock to everyone who knows and loves Neil. If only we’d known the symptoms, raising awareness of this dreadful disease is paramount to help save lives, helping people to understand the symptoms and early detection is key to increasing the survival rate. It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.
So how am I raising money
- I decided, in a moment of complete madness, that I would throw myself out of a perfectly good plane in memory of Neil, and to raise vital funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
- On the 13th September 2022, the anniversary of Neils passing, I will take part in a Tandem Skydive at Langar Airfield in Nottingham.
- I will be free falling from 13,000ft.
- You are all very welcome to come along and cheer me on or laugh hysterically, whichever you choose !! The whole skydive will be recorded and the recording and photos will be made available for you to laugh at at a later date !!
Now, for anyone who knows Neil, you will know that..
1) He was terrified of heights..
2) There is no way he’d let me (his girl) do this, purely as he protected me..
I have a spinal injury, I’ve survived meningitis twice, and I had major brain surgery on 28th May 2021 to relieve fluid on my brain and spine via a VP Shunt (yes my neurosurgeon also thinks I’m mad, but has agreed I’m ok to do this!)..
So Neil, my Angel, we will fly high together, this ones for you..
Thank you for giving anything you can to help raise much needed awareness of Pancreatic Cancer 💜
Please note, I will be covering the cost of the Skydive myself. Any monies raised will be going to Pancreatic Cancer UK.
