Story
In 2001 my daughter Leilani was born in St George's hospital london. I was unaware of the complex medical and developmental problems that she had and would face in her life, but she was a special girl, and after various surgeries, countless hospital appointments and many many happy and sad times in 2007 we were put in touch with Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice. They were there as a support for us as a whole family, giving Leilani 1 on 1 nursing care at our home, giving my other children time to be kids and myself time to sleep and be a better me! In August 2011 I was told that Leilani was in palliative care, she could fight no more, Chestnut stepped up their care for her and us. We stayed at the house for 3 months on and off, we had Christmas there, Leilani was made to feel like a princess and had so much fun....making cakes, painting her nails and everyone's around her! They made our last few months a little less scary. At the end of February it was clear that Leilani was becoming extremly ill and we stayed at Chestnut full time. The staff helped look after her round the clock, held me up with their love and care.
On 3rd March 2012 Leilani passed away at Chestnut Tree House.
We were able to stay with Leilani for the days leading up to her funeral, to say those precious goodbyes, tell her how much we would miss her and how much we love her. Those days were something Chestnut Tree House offered like no other place can. Treasured memories.
It costs £3.5 million a year to run all the services at Chestnut Tree House, a huge amount of that is funded by people like you, almost 75%.....please support this amazing place....and these amazing men for their continued time and effort to raise funds for families across sussex.
Thank you for taking the time to read my daughters story.
