Fundraising for Mothers' Union Manchester
3 years ago the war in Syria forced Ghassan and Siham to leave everything and flee to Bury to start a new life. Bury offered them a place of safety and hope; somewhere they could raise their daughter Katrina in peace and give her a future.
They brought nothing but their Christian faith and a belief in a God of new beginnings.
They worked hard to learn English and integrate and grew to love Bury and its people. The bustling market in Bury reminded them of markets back home in Hama and slowly a dream began to form. A dream of starting their own business and becoming independent - of making their own way and giving back to the community that had welcomed them.
Ghassan and Siham are very excited to be opening their very own market stall in Bury Market selling hot Arabic food.
FALAFELS & MORE... is the only stall selling this kind of food in the market - a unique selling point but also a challenge. They will be pioneers and are ready to embrace the challenge of introducing the people of Bury to the delights of Arabic food - falafels, kebabs, etc. Opening Saturday 10th November with free tasters - do come along.
Mothers' Union Manchester's Welcoming Strangers Fund has been able to help with some set-up costs. PLEASE support Siham and Ghassan.
