When I was 14 weeks pregnant, I had my first ultra sound scan. The midwife told me I needed to go to John Radcliffe in Oxford the following day, to have more detailed scans of my baby.

Sadly the scans showed my baby had health problems, and that my baby wouldn’t survive once she was born.

I had to make the hardest decision of my life, but knew it was the only decision to make sure my baby wasn’t to suffer. 

4 days later I went to the Northampton general hospital, I stayed in a room called the snowdrop room, it is specially funded by SANDS charity. It meant I had my own private room, away from the labour ward and maternity ward.  So I could have my baby in a peaceful room with a midwife that was there just for me. With a cold cot I was able to stay to spend precious, days, hours and minutes with my baby daughter before I said goodbye!  Also I was given a very precious memory box, with such special thoughtful memories, that I will cherish forever, including her hand prints and foot prints, which has been so important towards my grief. 

I am doing a skydive, to raise money for SANDS, for them to continue supporting families at such a difficult time, and to give something to this amazing charity that has supported me. (Sadly not all hospitals in the uk have this facility)
