100k in 10 hours Ramadan running challenge for helping raise funds for an educational charity, 16 May 2020
Cambridge Islamic College’s mission is to produce a generation of independent Islamic scholars and thinkers who are at the same time working professionals contributing to the wider society.

Story

Why am I running 100k in 10 hours? Well I like running anyway and I wanted to set a challenge this ramadan to run while fasting. I am part of Cambridge Islamic College working on a voluntary basis. The challenges we have in the College are enormous which people outside do not see. Hence I have set a visible challenge for people to see so at least they would have a glimpse of difficulties and challenges facing the College.

You can learn more about the College by checking out the main Ramadan campaign where your donations would go towards. In short, we have got the premises in central Cambridge; world-class teachers and academics; and intelligent, hard-working and capable students. But we need funds to move forward as the covid and lockdown has made matters difficult for the College and the students. I am very hopeful that everyone of you would chip in to help the College (situated in the education hub of the world) in whatever way possible. Your support will go a long way and InshaAllah you will be pleasantly surprised on the Day of Judgement as to the amount of good deeds you would have accumulated because of the wise Sadaqah Jariyah you made to the College. Please donate generously. May Allah bless you and your family.

I have done most of the distance so far (see updates below) and I am intending to complete 100km before the end of Ramadan. Running or any other form of regular exercise is not only good for the body but also for the mind and the soul. So this is also a reminder for all of you to continue or take up regular exercise. We certainly try to encourage this at the College.
