Charity Fundraising: Race to the Big
Apple!
*We got there on Day 3!* So now we are travelling on to visit our Club Mates down under in our extended quest to go from Antrim to Australia, via New York, in 14 Days on Foot and Bicycle!
North Antrim GAA Clubs attempt to raise funds for the Moyle
Marie Curie team. We noticed that had put out an
‘Emergency Appeal’ “Coronavirus has put everything on hold. We wish we could put terminal illness on hold too, but we can’t.
In this time of National Emergency, Marie Curie Nurses and Hospices are needed more than ever.” With so many of the normal Marie Curie fundraising events (annual BBQs and Lammas Fair Draw
etc.) curtailed due to Covid-19, we want to help do our bit.
It should also be a good way to motivate everyone to keep up / take up some exercise at a time when everyone might be struggling for motivation. Our Senior Camogie, Hurling & Football teams will be leading the way.
Collectively (but on an individual basis) we want to cover a set distance and reach our ‘destination’ through our daily running, walking and cycling whilst adhering to government guidelines on daily exercising and social distancing.
We are asking you, our family and friends and Club supporters to please donate what you can.
We aim to travel the distance from Fairhead to New York, which is 5,046km, in just 2 weeks starting on Tuesday 5th May. We hope
to raise £2,000 for Marie Curie’s Moyle Group in doing so.
*A further 16,020km now added to our journey giving us an overall distance of 21,066km to travel in 14 Days*
Check our Club Social Media accounts for updates on how we are doing!
It's a big challenge but we're ready to get moving in order to give something back in support of the great work of Marie Curie!
Good Luck everyone:
Ádh mór oraibh!
Thanks in advance for your support :)
