Story
On February 16th, 8 pm at Fairfax High School, the Fairfax Academy Dance program is hosting a benefit dance concert to help raise awareness for dancers and non-dancers who suffer from eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia. In an industry that thrives on structure, comparison, and perfectionism, especially as it relates to body type, the dance industry has created the perfect environment for eating disorders to develop. I am confident that we all have experienced or have students who suffer from this life-threatening condition. We as dancers and experts are calling for change! We hope to decrease that number by using dance as a platform for change. You are invited to help make dance a safe, thriving, loving industry for all.
