Felix & Neil's "Cheeky Pasty" Push at the Bourton 10km

Bourton 10km · 27 February 2022
At 10am, Sunday, February 27, 15-year-old Felix Thompson and running buddy Neil Teague will be taking part in the popular Bourton10km road race that starts in the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Felix, who was born with a genetic condition that affects his physical and cognitive development, mostly gets around with the help of his trusty wheelchair. Being pushed by Neil, they’ll join hundreds of keen runners around the course that starts and finishes with loops of the village centre.
If they succeed in reaching the finish line, both will have fully deserved the post-race (in Felix’s words) “cheeky pasty” that has been the main topic of conversation for many of their training miles.
The duo are raising money for The Friends of The Milestone School, the charity that supports the work of the specialist school in Gloucester where Felix has been a pupil for the past decade.
The charity helps raise funds to remove obstacles and enable access to learning for 320 kids with learning difficulties and autism, and experience some of the nicer things in life including school trips, sensory playgrounds, and residentials with a team of carers.
Neil and Felix have been training three times a week since the start of the year, gradually building up the distance and often heading out after dark whatever the weather – with local residents becoming increasingly used to the sight of the flashing lights of the wheelchair with the Captain America wheels flying past.
While Neil will push most of the way, the plan is for Felix to push his own chair down the final yards of the home stretch and across the line in the high street. Both welcome as much support as possible, and whether you can donate here or not, please come down on the day and cheer them on!
