Story
Three years ago I was very poorly with both Pleurisy and Pneumonia. I quickly went from a healthy 36 year old, to doctors visits, ambulance trips and stays in hospital.
Every breath was so painful, I dreaded taking each breath! As well as this I had the infection; fevers, racing heart and loss of energy. I lost over 1 stone in weight. It made me realise how we all take healthy lungs for granted.
It took me a long time to fully recover and get my energy levels back. I felt I was going backwards at times. At my lowest, I remember calling the British Lung Foundation and speaking to a nurse who explained it would take time.
Then life got back to normal & super busy. 2020 is the year I turn 40 and it’s the London Marathons 40th year too. It’s meant to be! So now it’s time to do something I dreamt of when I felt my worst. I can’t say I’m looking forward to running a marathon, but I’m looking forward to breathing in that April air for 26.2 miles!
I’d appreciate any help & support in smashing this marathon training and donations in support of this cause and great charity.
1 in 5 people in the UK has a lung condition. That means 10,000 new diagnoses per week.I'm running the London Marathon for the British Lung Foundation, the only UK charity looking after the nation's lungs. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world without lung disease.Just £8 allows one of the BLF's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering support to someone in need. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
