Story

UPDATE : Well we did it. Total of 200 miles in 2 days (due to diversions, stolen signs and lost routes). The epic day was Cambridge to Birmingham (125 miles) with strong 50 mph head and side winds (sadly no tails winds), driving rain, sleet and hail.

Before we departed had a talk from a 16 year old from Croatia, who the EY foundation had helped mentor and get the best out of himself, despite a poor start to life. Very inspiring.

Many thanks to all those who have donated or who are thinking of donating

It is a good cause.

I’m part of a team taking on The Big EY Ride and aiming to raise £2,400 for The EY Foundation. I'm riding c.180 miles from London to Birmingham over two days.

In addition John is preparing for the event by running the London marathon and Jamie (Merckx) Heath is preparing for the event by riding the 'classic of all classics', the iconic Paris Roubaix. This is a 150 km race which includes 50 km of slippy, broken cobbles in Northern France and is rightly known as the 'Hell of the North'.

The Big EY Ride is a charity event covering a total of 845 miles and visiting offices in London, Cambridge, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen in May 2015. There are options to cycle for one day, one stage (between 2 – 5 days) or the entire course, either as an individual or as a team, as we aim to raise £500,000 for The EY Foundation.

The EY Foundation is an independent UK charity set up by EY in July 2014. We believe that every young person in the UK, regardless of their background, should be able to make a successful transition from school into their first job, higher education or self-employment. Investing in and creating new programmes for young people that support them in this transition, is just one of the things we do to achieve this.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
