Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It's been a frustrating period for all of us and at a time of year when us birders are usually enjoying watching birds around the world, on migration, or settling in to their breeding grounds, but we've been understandably asked to stay at home to stop the spread of COVID 19.
I started a "Lockdown Garden Bird List" on April 1st and since I did, many people have contacted me with their sightings, so I thought what could I do to collate some of these sightings and at the same time raise some much needed funds for the RSPB.
I'd like everyone to join with me on May 9th and record the bird species you can identify by sight or sound from your own garden, wherever you are in the world.
You don't have to donate to take part, a lot of us are finding it a difficult time financially, but every little will help make up for some of the losses in revenue the RSPB will experience over this time, reducing the funds needed to continue the valuable work they do to protect wildlife across the world.
I'll be posting my sightings throughout the day of May 9th on Facebook and please do chip in with your own comments and sightings as the day progresses.
When you've completed your days bird list, please email it to me, with if possible a photograph of your garden, too Ashley, on experiencenaturetours@gmail.com.
I'll publish the full 'Worldwide Garden Bird List' on my blog and Facebook, along with a collage of photos of the gardens involved.
So what ever your level of expertise, please join in and be a part of what should be a fun and ultimately fascinating day of birdwatching, within the constraints of gardens across the world.
I've decided to do this day in memory of my dear Mom, who first inspired me to enjoy our garden birds all those years ago.
