Story
Dear friends,
Everyone who attends our concerts, becomes a member of our Host of Angels Individual Giving Scheme or who supports us in any other way plays a vital part in enabling us to make great music and bring the many benefits of singing to individuals and communities.
All of us involved in making Ex Cathedra unique amongst British - and indeed international choirs - are extremely grateful for your continuing support. But occasionally, I need to ask you to go the extra mile for us and make a special donation.
The Best of Brazil CD
This time, my curiosity and passion for exploring the lost or little known musical heritage of different parts of the world has provided us with an exciting opportunity we simply cannot ignore.
Having been at the forefront of bringing South American Baroque music to the attention of European audiences, Ex Cathedra is now leading the way in exploring and championing the little known musical heritage of Brazil. We now have the chance to make the first CD in Europe dedicated to this vast and fascinating country’s long forgotten baroque and classical musical tradition.
We have begun introducing the music of 17th- and 18th-century Brazil to UK concert platforms but this CD will ensure that all music-lovers have access to and can enjoy this wonderful music for years to come.
DONATE NOW
Sadly, it has become increasingly difficult in the current climate for record companies and their performers to finance new recordings as few, if any, CDs sell enough copies to cover costs! So, even though most of the funding for our CD is in place, we still need to raise a further £8,800. I am appealing for your help to raise the extra money we need.
The CD will be based on the programme we gave in Birmingham Town Hall in March and you can listen to a clip at http://excathedra.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Matais-de-Incendios-Manuscripto-de-Mogi-das-Cruzes.mp3.
I feel sure that the clip from the concert will remind you of a very enjoyable evening. I also hope that it will encourage you to share your enjoyment with others by making a donation.
I urge you to be a Brazilian Recording Angel today. Whatever you can give will make a difference and we would like to thank you in our concert programmes for 2014/15 (optional).
In addition, if your donation is £50 or more you will receive a complimentary copy of the CD; for gifts over £250 you can choose to be acknowledged in the CD booklet and if your gift is for £1,000 or more, I should be delighted to invite you to join us for one of the recording sessions. You will be able to sit in the control room and see (and hear) what goes on behind the scenes!
We have a recording slot at the beginning of September and we need to have all the funding in place by the end of July to make it happen. Please give what you can.
Thank you for your generosity!
