Story
This September, my dad and I are running the Great North Run to raise money for Maggie's! It feels very appropriate to be doing this alongside dad/Chris, because he has been a dependable, generous source of practical and emotional support throughout my cancer story. Without the support of dad and Maggie’s, I could not have made it through the cancer chaos, so it's great to be bringing them together in one event! I am treating this run as an opportunity to celebrate and thank the friends, family, and Maggie’s folk that have been next to me in my long journey through life with cancer. It has never just been “my” story, as there have always been others there with me in the hardest, darkest moments. My training has been hampered by radiotherapy, a ligament injury and lots of French pastries, so I can’t promise an impressive time, but I am putting all the effort and energy that I can summon into this!
Our aim is to ensure that Maggie’s can continue to help other families facing the chaos of life with cancer. Especially during a time of financial hardship and uncertainty, Maggie’s can be a lifeline for people with cancer, offering a safe, comfortable refuge, as well as the practical, thoughtful care that can be vital for anyone struggling with cancer. Maggie’s are also there for everyone affected by a cancer diagnosis: the friends and family caught up in the pain and uncertainty.
We will be running for Maggie's Dundee, where the brilliant staff and the great guys from the Men's Group have been a fantastic source of friendship and support for Ewan for many years!
Please give generously to make sure that Maggie’s can keep doing this important work! Thank you!
