Story
My name's Evie and I'm 27.
I was diagnosed with an eye condition called Iritis when I was a child and its became something that not only I've had to learn to manage but everyone around me also.
The road to getting it under control has been rocky and unstable, because the treatment/prevention for the disease itself can have its own complications such as blindness, yet left untreated; the prognosis is the same.
Due to my age, growing up there weren't any prevention methods the doctors were willing to try but looking around in 2021; I'm seeing progress.
I'm speaking to parents whose children are being part of studies or undergoing trials with some incredible results and its all thanks to the incredible research efforts that are both privately and publicly funded; charities such as fight for sight have been vital in this effort.
I'm grateful to lead a relatively normal life compared to some others with my condition. I work, run a business and have a fantastic support network (special thanks to my mum, dad, fiancè, father in law and employer).
So I'm going to use my platforms to try and raise as much money as I can to go towards continued research and I promise I'll try not to fall over my own feet whilst running in September but ill try and film it if I do! 😁
Fight for Sight, fund ground-breaking research into sight loss that's already changing lives today and transforming them tomorrow. One in five people will have a serious sight condition in their life time. But with the power of revolutionary science, we can create a world that everyone can see.
