Story
Events R Talented was set up in 2018 by four event industry friends to raise funds for charity by organising and hosting entertainment auditions for people in the Event Industry with a performance talent that is different from their day jobs.
All funds raised go to our supported charity via Meeting Needs.
The winner gets to perform on stage at the M&IT Awards Dinner to over 1200 events professionals and is invited onto a special 5 day trip to the Caribbean.
In 2018 we raised £7000 for an Aids/HIV charity supporting disadvantaged children in rural South Africa.
In 2019 we raised £8500 for Buses 4 Homeless, a charity supporting the homeless in a different way in the UK.
In 2022, we supported Hospices of Hope raising £6000, A UK based charity benefiting children with life limiting or threatening illness in Europe's four poorest countries, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Albania.
For 2023, we are supporting SEED, a UK charity that supports people with a range of eating disorders. You can find out more about SEED and what they do at:

But for now, here is a brief synopsis on what they do:
SEED Eating Disorder Support Service is a small charity with
big ambitions based in Hull, East Yorkshire with outreach all around the UK and Internationally. SEED provide help and support in many different ways to those personally experiencing an Eating Disorder and their carers and loved ones too.
This includes support groups, email and text support, SEED helpline,
educational toolkit resources for schools, therapy services, online self-help support via the website, Recovery after the Recovery and early intervention support programme to name just a few.
Eating disorders form the largest group of mental health
illnesses with approximately 40% of all mental health illness being eating disorder related. More shockingly 20% of people affected by eating disorders die as a result of them.
SEED was co-founded by Marg and Dennis Oaten 22 years
ago as they fought to save their daughter Gemma’s life and in turn, have saved countless more over the years.
The SEED mission statement is:
“SEED’S mission is to provide an exceptional network of care
and support coupled with confidential, independent and non-judgmental advice for sufferers and carers to facilitate recovery, whilst campaigning for a change of policy on management and treatment of all Eating Disorders from government and health agencies within the UK to increase rates of early treatment and recovery.”
To give you a little information re our previous winners.
In the past few years, our winners included an keyboard accompanied singer songwriter, Eiza Murphy who actually left the events industry a year or so after winning and is now developing a successful career as a singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, at the time of writing she has had 3 Spotify Number One songs.
The next year we had Megan Urwin who is also a singer and who wowed the audience at both our final and at the M&IT Awards. Still singing for pleasure she is very much a name for the future in events having enjoyed promotion to senior account manager and was a C&IT A Lister in 2022.
Our most recent winner is Johanna Potkin, who completely shone at the M&IT Awards and earned a standing ovation with her flute playing. Jo runs her own agency but still finds time to enjoy he rekindled passion for the flute and was asked to play with The Halle Orchestra in Manchester.
