Story
I believe that education should be accessible to everyone regardless of their socioeconomic background. Unfortunately, there is a long way to achieve this dream. It is great that organizations such as Teach First try to bridge the gap and therefore I would like to support their mission fundraising for this cause and running 5k as part of Run the River 2022.
To illustrate the situation on tangible example, imagine you're going out for a run with a friend. Their half of the running route is clear, yet yours is lined with hurdles. Unfair, right? But that's what our education system is like for the UK's poorest children (of course, UK is not the exception as such story is very similar across the globe). All kids work hard at school. But those from disadvantaged families have always had to overcome more hurdles to keep up with their wealthier classmates. And the pandemic has only made this worse: it's estimated that ten years of progress towards an education system that works for every child has been lost. We're determined to reverse this. But we need your help.
What is Run The River?
Teach First's annual event, Run the River is celebrating ten years of our twilight charity run along the River Thames. With mass event and virtual running options to choose from, there's never been an easier way to take part.
