Story
Polka Theatre
The money provided will be split between Polka Theartre and Home Start Merton, as they are both Mayor of Merton Charities.
Polka Theatre is committed to using the power of performance and engagement in creative play to unlock the imagination and potential in the children of Merton – whatever their background or ability. We do this through our inspiring productions and a carefully conceived Creative Learning and Community Engagement programme. This includes Freefalling – a year-long drama-based programme for 9-11 year olds at risk of social exclusion, and the provision of special performances for children with different educational or sensory needs.
As a registered charity, we rely on the funding we receive from our supporters to help us give some of the most disadvantaged communities in Merton access to live theatre, interactive workshops, story-telling sessions and other free activities for children, their parents and carers. We also have child-friendly indoor and outdoor play areas, a dress-up box and mini theatre, teddy bears, rocking horses and a book corner, which are all FREE to enjoy.
Being one of the Mayor of Merton’s Charities will help us continue to reach over 100,000 children each year. What is more, every donation Polka Theatre receives will be matched £1-for-£1 by Arts Council England, so your donation can make double the difference to our ability to entertain and support the children of Merton as we have done for over 30 years.
