Story

Have you been missing live sport this past year? Not to worry, we've got you covered... We are 6 students at the Uni of Cambridge fundraising for It's a Penalty as part of their Student Ambassador Programme. As a team, we'll be attempting every single Olympic sport - which you can watch (and laugh!) at your leisure on our Instagram page @theolympicchallenge. It is estimated that 40.3 million people globally are enslaved today. In the UK, half of those in slavery are children. Modern slavery is a global issue, but it's also a problem in the UK too. One report suggest there may be 200 people in slavery in Cambridge alone. It's a Penalty is a charity which runs campaigns around major sporting events to raise awareness and prevent abuse, exploitation and human trafficking. Their campaigns include: the Commonwealth Games, the Olympics, the Super Bowl and the World Cup. It's a Penalty has reached 1.6 billion people globally, and has helped to protect 16,891 victims. Through the work of It's a Penalty and other charities, the tragedy of human trafficking is being tackled. So please donate, enjoy watching us look extremely athletic (or a bit stupid), and let's fight modern slavery together.

About the charity

RCN 1161848
It’s a Penalty aims to end abuse, exploitation and trafficking. Our awareness-raising Campaigns harness the power of sport to prevent trafficking and exploitation on a global scale. Our Research & Advocacy work ensures that children worldwide are legally protected from sexual exploitation and abuse. Through collaboration and partnership with strategic stakeholders, such as high-profile sporting athletes, and the travel and tourism industry (including hotels, airlines, transportation), we have been able to achieve significant results. To see human trafficking eradicated and maximise our impact, we also join forces with sporting governing bodies/hosting committees, local and international NGOs, governments, corporations and law enforcement. We believe that collaboration is key to achieving our goals.
