Story
Thank you for visiting Liam & Suzanne Sherlock's fundraising page.
In July 2007 we will be travelling to Uganda with 20 other people from the Armagh Archdiocese, to help build houses for impoverished Ugandan families. We will be working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the world’s largest poverty housing charity. This is the first year that a group from the Armagh diocese has led a Habitat for Humanity team with the hope of an annual trip.
Let us tell you a little more about our project. Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland (“HFHNI”) is a cross-community; self-build housing charity that builds simple, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families and volunteers. The organisation is not just about building houses; it aims to empower individuals, restore hope and rebuild communities – both socially and economically – by building houses for ownership with people in need. HFHNI was established in Belfast in 1994 as a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has built more than 150,000 houses in over 90 countries worldwide.
Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Finally, I would like to stress that each member of the team makes a personal donation to pay for their flights and accomodation for the trip. Any donations made by you will go towards building materials, etc. and will not be used to get us there.
So please sponsor us now!
UPDATE 31/05/2007:
Our destination has changed to Uganda due to lack of the required support in Ethiopia. It is hoped Habitat NI will send teams to Ethiopia again in the future but unfortunately this will not be in time for this year.
With your help we have raised over €9,000 to date.
We fly out on July 7th.
Many thanks for your support.
