Story
A flicker of light in the dark
I have been inspired, along with the rest of the nation, by Captain Sir Tom Moore, to be strong, to hold on, and to be positive in a time when it felt that there was little hope. Despite his fragile age, he decided that he would set himself a challenge of walking 100 laps of his garden before he reached his 100th birthday. He did it for a number of reasons:
- To show his resolve.
- To be an example to others - if he could complete this seemingly impossible challenge at his fragile age, then we as a nation could grit our teeth and get through the difficult months that lay ahead caused by this pandemic.
- To raise hope, and a feeling of togetherness, uniting us all in these difficult times
- To raise money for the NHS.
Captain Sir Tom Moore’s daily motto, “Tomorrow is a good day”, is one which we should all embrace. Whatever trials or difficulties we face, they are more easily encountered if we approach them with positivity and a show of resilience.
He reached a point that I thought wasn’t possible, to complete 100 laps of his garden before he reached his 100th birthday. That challenge, and the example set by Captain Sir Tom Moore, has inspired me to do something which I can’t do well - I am going to attempt to run 2 miles per day for 100 days, and to raise some money for the NHS.
When it proves difficult or painful, or if I want to give up, I will remember that Captain Sir Tom went through these difficulties too, but without complaining and with a positive outlook which helped him to keep going and to achieve his goal.
I will work harder.
I will try harder.
I will be better.
Whatever comes my way in life, I will try to remember that Tomorrow is a good day ❤️
