Story
I am doing a sponsored skydive on the 14th August, to raise money and support St Barnabas House and in memory of my mum Joanna Thompson.
She was an amazing and loving mum and family member to many whose life was taken way too soon by an aggressive form of Colorectal Cancer which unfortunately spread to the liver to a point where it ended up being untreatable. My mum was such a strong and courageous woman who battled for over 3 years through countless efforts of chemotherapy and surgeries but through every step of the way she ensured she lived life as normal as possible and as well as her body allowed her too.
Once her health inevitably started to deteriorate, St Barnabas stepped in and she went into their care the day we called. From here for the next 9 days she received amazing care and support from everyone at the hospice and support we just couldn't have given at home and this was given throughout until she sadly passed away on the 1st May this year. The hospice were also great at allowing all of the family to get enough time with her during these 9 days and overall we were all really impressed and so thankful for the support from them.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated and will help others who need it to get this amazing care from a local charity.
St Barnabas House is a charity based in Worthing which provides palliative and end of life care to adults with life-limiting illnesses. We believe everyone facing life-limiting illness should receive the care and support they deserve. Our mission is to provide dignity, comfort and choice for adults who need specialised, supportive care. Your generous support helped to provide specialist supportive care for 1,786 local people and their families at the hospice and in the comfort of their own homes last year.
