Story
I'm just a solar physicist converted into a research software developer in a fun IT department at a UK university. This IT department I am part of likes to put us in shape by sending us to the UK Challenge.
The money we collect this year goes to the Invictus Games Foundation - read more about them below - whether we win (Ha!) or not (there are no losers) the UK Challenge. It will be tough! A lot of running, cycling and canoeing (maybe some swimming). All that while solving puzzles and planning strategies. I'll suffer for sure! Whether you'd like to support the cause, enjoy the thought of me suffering or have some extra fivers that you don't know what to do with - then click "Give now" on the top right corner and donate! I'll send you a picture after the event as proof of my suffering.
What's the Invictus Games Foundation?
In 2008, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, had just completed his first deployment in Afghanistan. His experiences there with the many Wounded Injured and Sick Servicemen and women had a profound impact and he resolved to do something. The Invictus Games were born. In London 2014, 411 competitors from 13 nations took part in the first Games. Sports recovery is a proven method to accelerate and reinforce rehabilitation and participation in an Invictus Games is transformative for competitors and their friends and family. It supports long-term improvements in physical and mental health, provides opportunities to inspire and motivate others and helps servicemen and women re-engage with their families and their community. We can't help these wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women transform themselves through sport without the incredible generosity of supporters, so huge thanks for helping make this huge difference in their lives.
