Story
During the first lockdown, in June 2020, my Dad died of prostate cancer. He was supposed to have years, and his PSA levels (an indication of prostate cancer) were low following treatment, but in May 2020 he was admitted with severe pain and was told, whilst hospitals were closed to all visitors, that his cancer had spread and he only had weeks remaining. My Dad was taken too soon, in the terrible conditions of lockdown. I want to help prevent this from happening to others. By funding research, we will better understand this disease and how it progresses.
I grew up in London and was a ‘runner’, although I have only dabbled as an adult. During my childhood, Dad took me to my weekly training runs at Richmond park and races around London. I ran the London Mini Marathon numerous times and, when I did, I always said that I would one day run the London Marathon. He knew I would….and thought I was totally mad! Running to fund research that could have helped his cancer journey, treading the streets that I walked with him throughout my childhood, will mean so much.
Thank you for helping me to remember my Dad, and helping others suffering from this terrible disease, by sponsoring me.
