Story
Kyro was born with a growth on his airways and a CPAM, meaning he needed medical intervention immediately to help him to breathe. He was taken away to be resuscitated at birth.
He had 2 life saving operations in the first 2 months of his life at The Freeman's Hospital and his care & recovery was at the Royal Victoria Infirmary at Newcastle on the SCBU and PICU. The first operation was to remove the growth and the second to remove half of his left lung as it wasn't functioning properly.
We live 100 miles from Newcastle so staying at home wasn't an option. The Sick Children's Trust provided me & Jim somewhere to stay so we could be by his side within minutes. Not only was this somewhere we could sleep, but somewhere we could cook a meal, have a shower, and somewhere that we could talk & cry and try to get our heads around what was happening with our baby. Somewhere that felt something like home away from all the beeps on the ICU wards.
We're so grateful to The Sick Children's Trust for giving us 1 less thing to worry about at such a hard time, and I want to try give back to them to show our appreciation. The Sick Children's Trust is a charity and rely on donations. So please, give generously! 😊
