Story
On September 7th 2016, our beautiful, perfect daughter, Erica Victoria Brown was born at 28 weeks and 2 days, weighing 2lb and 13oz.
The maternity unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary looked after Erica and both of us in a way we couldn't have imagined possible. The attention and care Erica received was nothing short of utterly inspiring.
On September 14th 2016, despite the incredible efforts of a team of dedicated, passionate and extraordinary people, Erica's health deteriorated and she passed away, taking her last breath as we held her in our arms. The 6 days and 21 hours we shared with her were the most precious and wonderful gift we could have ever wished for and we will never, ever forget her.
It is with charitable donations, that this phenomenal unit can do the work they do and we want to help ensure if we can that anyone in our position obtains the same level of care that we and our Erica were privileged to receive.
It is very important to realise that Leicester Royal Infirmary has one of the most sophisticated Neonatal Departments, which is why Erica was originally transferred there. It may not be your local hospital and we hope you never will, but you too may be in need of them one day.
We would like 50% of any funds we raise to go specifically to the Neonatal unit on the second floor of Kensington House at Leicester Royal Infirmary with the remaining 50% to be divided between the Maternity Assesment Unit on Level 1, Wards 5 & 6 on Level 3, the Delivery Suite on Level 4 and Family Accomodation on Level 5, all of whom showed the highest possible levels of professionalism and care.
