Erica's Match for Naren - Fundraiser

Match for Naren - Fundraiser · 16 October 2016
Dear all,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking to the skies for a tandem skydive challenge to raise money for DKMS- We Delete Blood Cancer.
Every 20 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. My dai; Naren Rai was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. For blood cancer patients like my dai, a blood stem cell donation from a matching donor represents their best, and sometimes only, chance of beating this devastating disease.
Despite being treatable and potentially curable, blood cancer today remains the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the UK, and still claims the lives of more children in the UK than any other disease. Finding a tissue match is extremely rare. With more than 8,500 known tissue characteristics that can occur in millions of combinations, finding a match is a bit like winning the national lottery!
We believe that NO ONE HAS TO LOSE THEIR LIFE TO BLOOD CANCER because they are unable to find a matching blood stem cell donor. My vision along with DKMS is that one day, a suitable matching donor can be found for every blood cancer patient who needs one. Therefore I am taking on this skydiving challenge this October in order to raise funds and awareness that DKMS urgently needs in order to continue their work registering as many potential donors as possible.
Every single penny, every gift, no matter the size that you are able to give will go towards DKMS for the cost of registering new potential donors.
£40 = one new lifesaving donor
£200 = 5 new lifesavers
£600 = 15 new lifesavers
£1000= 25 new lifesaving donors
Your money can really save lives. Help us support our journey to find a genetic cell mate for everyone. Make a lifesaving difference today!
Kind Regards, Erica
Together against blood cancer.
PS If you are a UK taxpayer donating money, please make sure you select Gift Aid option, which allows DKMS to claim an 25% at no extra cost!
