Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Thanks to everyone for your fantastic generosity - YOU HAVE EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS ! - Now 125% of target !!

And the Cash donations still to be registerd

A great day out - despite the dire forecasts there was barely a drop of rain - a bit cold but we soon warmed up.

I ran with my wife Pauline until she sped off uphill; we started between the rhino & tiger, I overtook a peacock and had a long chat with a friendly, very large brown bug (not sure of the exact species seemed like a more likeable version of a cockroach )

Crowd support was excellent with loads of folk still out there cheering for more than 5 hours

I ran for Macmillan because I know the importance of the work they do -   I had cancer (a spinal tumour) when I was 12 and after successful treatment I took up a career in medicine and I have worked with cancer charities and patient organisations.

I am running for Macmillan because of their excellent work in helping people with cancer in many ways – supporting patients and their families through difficult times.

In particular in my area of Basildon and Brentwood they are working on helping people through the recovery process after treatment – the important phase of getting back to normal or living well with cancer.

We now realise the importance of giving support where needed with rehabilitation after the hospital treatment to help patients to live well again.

Macmillan are pioneering ways of better understanding individual needs after treatment  ( this is known as the Survivorship Project) and they are making  plans for more information bases such as the Info space, currently in Basildon Hospitalwhich could include one in Brentwood.
