Story
Two years ago a good friend and colleague of mine Vicki lost her battle against a brain tumour. Those who knew her would agree she was one of the most caring and kindest people you could ever meet. I am running the Thorpe and Egham half marathon to help raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity who are constantly working towards beating brain tumours. Research into brain tumours is woefully underfunded, and the Brain Tumour Charity only receive 2% funding from cancer research. Survival rates are just 11% and treatments haven't changed in 40 years.
The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, were moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. We're set on finding new treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change. And were doing it right now. Because we understand that when you, or someone you love, is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can't wait.
UPDATE: Sadly the in person event has been moved to 22 August. While I will still be doing the in person event, I will also be running it virtually on 7th March. As if the challenge of one half marathon wasn’t enough, it’s now 2!
