As an alcoholic in recovery now for a decade(really unbelievable just writing this), running has been an integral part of my recovery . My daughter ran for Addaction in 2012 in the London Marathon at the start of my recovery. She was an important part of my recovery and running for me helped to inspire me at a time I needed all the help I could get. I both want to give back to others struggling and feel I can be an inspiration to those that are. I went from virtually losing everything (Jobs, friends, family) to living sober and living life as it’s meant to be lived. I have gotten married, have 4 grandchildren (newest is Octavia in my profile pic), started my own successful company and helped others along the way. I was able to help my mother who was another supporter of mine when I didn't have many. She suffered dementia for the last couple years and I wouldn't have been able to take care of her if I wasn't sober. My wife also put her faith in me when many people didn't. My wife, daughter and mother were my major support network. I am running in honor of the 3 of them and I can't tell you how important that is and to do it in the London Marathon has special meaning.
