Story
After last year’s epic cycle event Kent to Ghent, a number of us strange Lycra clad middle aged folk have decided to do something again and we are riding 300km over 3 days from Ghent to Amsterdam. A good
number of you will know that sporting prowess is not ever associated with yours truly, but there is a very good reason why I am doing this and raising money for The British Liver Trust in memory of Brett Baker.
Brett had battled throughout his life since the age of 8 after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He spent a lot of time in hospital while growing up and aged 21 he underwent a major operation to remove a large part of his colon and at the same time he learned that he had a progressive and incurable liver disease that would require a liver transplant.
Sadly the liver transplant was not to be and in May 2016 Brett lost the battle. What many of you may not know is that Brett was Keith Baker’s son. Keith is well known to many of us who work in the waste industry and I am very honoured to be doing this not only to support The British Liver Trust, but Brett who was a truly strong individual with so much of his life in front of him but also to support Keith and his family who have had to endure what many of us can not truly imagine; the loss of a loved one a son.
If you can spare £10 or so it would be very much appreciated
