Story
I'm a digital artist from Scotland who would love to lend my arty skills towards raising more funds for Endometriosis UK, the leading charity in the UK for supporting sufferers of endometriosis.
As I am one of the #1in10, throughout the month of March I will once again be hosting an art raffle, where I will be offering 10 x personalised, digital coloured sketch commissions of your pets or favourite animals as prizes. Guest artists to be confirmed! Check updates for more information.
All you need to do to enter, is donate! For every donation, your name will be entered into the prize draw with a chance to win a custom, original piece of art of your pet or favourite animal. It could be the perfect little gift for a friend or loved one! Please leave your name in the comment section, or tick the box for me to contact you if you would like to enter the raffle.
See below for examples of the art you could win! I will put all the entered names into a hat, and will do the prize draw on the 31st of March.
Please donate as much or as little as you are able, as every little helps! You also don't have to take part in the raffle if you'd rather just donate. Please let me know if you would not like to enter. Even if you can't donate, if you can share the link, that would be amazing! Thank you so much for your time.
Now a little about why I am doing this;
I am taking on a 1in10 Challenge to raise vital funds for Endometriosis UK! Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. It is a chronic, and often debilitating, condition that can cause painful periods, painful sex and severe pelvic pain and discomfort outside of periods. It may also lead to infertility, fatigue and bowel and bladder problems. The cells cause internal bleeding and scar tissue, which can essentially fuse organs together.
Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth, that's as many as diabetes yet very few people have even heard of it. The impact can be felt for life and there is no cure. It takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis of endometriosis in the UK; that's too long! Your donations will mean that Endometriosis UK can continue to support those affected by Endometriosis through national support groups, information provision and their helpline as well as continue to campaign for change, fairer treatment and eventually a cure.
I was diagnosed by laparoscopy with stage four, deep infiltrating endometriosis in 2014. It took about seven years of suffering debilitating pain before a doctor acknowledged that I didn't "just have bad period pains". Since my diagnosis, the discovery of the support work that charities like Endometriosis UK offer has been a real life line.
Thanks to charity organisations like them, there is a lot more support and awareness for this condition, including our amazing local support group. Let's help continue to get the word out so that more people do not need to suffer for as long, and can get access to treatments and support sooner.
