THE JIST: (from the 'StreetSafari' website)
StreetSafari
So the thought of a banger rally tickles your fancy. Knackered out old cars on their last MOT struggling across amazing roads and fabulous terrain. Foreign countries, strange customs, incomprehensible languages.
Okay, maybe that last part isn't your thing. Or maybe the old pocket is a bit light on coin these days.
No worries! StreetSafari has something for everyone, after all, and that includes the "holiday at home" set.
Time to drive the UK in the way that only StreetSafari teams know how! End2End is the first proper banger rally to take place in the UK.
What part of the UK? Well, as the name says, pretty much all of it. Or at least the two farthest ends and all the lovely bits along the way.
From end to end...
As with all StreetSafari events, the challenge is very simple and basically the same: take a banger on a journey from one point to another over several days.
End2End starts at Land's End and drives uphill to John O'Groats, somewhere in the frozen north over 5 days and 1,400 miles. Of course, it isn't really frozen in August, but it is Scotland, after all, so who's to say?
The route takes place mostly off the motorways and through some of the most beautiful parts of the British Isles.
StreetSafari events often go through unintelligible countries, like France, for instance. Don't feel shortchanged, however, as End2End is not without its own linguistic challenges, with inclusion of Cornwall, Wales and Scotland.
Back to basics...
End2End also has another unique twist. In the true spirit of budget balancing bargain banger bashes, End2End is predominantly a camping event. Nightly stopovers include areas with plenty of campsites and -- of course -- a pub.
Teams are not, however, required to camp and are welcome to book guest houses or other accommodation for the night.
End2End just wouldn't be a proper StreetSafari event if it didn't have the one quirk in its personality to set it apart from its sister events.
What would a UK road trip be without camping, and what would a camping holiday be without a caravan? Remember all those holiday miles stuck crawling behind some caravan driver totally oblivious to the world?
That's right. For once in your life, the opportunity to avenge all those miserable miles... by inflicting them on someone else for a change.
Teams can enter with either a car valued at £150 or less, or a car/caravan combination valued at £300 or less.
The point...
StreetSafari events are never just simple drives from one place to another. That would be just way too simple and a real loser on the fun-tastic scale.
Daily challenges are played for points. These are usually observational or treasure hunt type challenges that anyone can achieve. Points accumulate to prizes.
And everybody loves prizes!
In addition to the normal points-based prizes, End2End also awards best themed caravan as well as one or two other dubious awards that come to us in moments of equally dubious inspiration.

OUR MISSION:Taking part in the E2E Rally for a second time
(16/8/2010 - 20/8/2010) we will be converting our 'Chavbuster' vehicle into something a little more special as we now have a better understanding of what to expect.
Our trusty Peugeot 405 Quasar 1.9TD will be converted into a NY 'esque' Taxi complete with special checkered design and hidden device. Its goinng to take a lot of time and effort to get her ready for End2End 2010, but we are up for the challenge and are looking to have a even more fun this time round.
For those who have seen the car in person you will know what a heap it is and how much of a challenge this rally of 1400+ miles (excluding the round trip) is going to be.
As per the last event we will be camping during the rally and taking part in the crazy challenges along the way. We have even discussed dressing up in a different fancy dress for each days of the rally.
I have added a wee video of the car and also some of the pictures of her during the re-theme.
SAY HELLO TO THE TURBO TAXI!! Enjoy.
