"...You remember. Every black person in here remembered when another person reminded you that you were black."
- John Boyega
To raise funding for this vitally important cause I'll be completely wet-shaving off my beloved dreads of nearly 20 years. If we hit the goal i'll livestream it and let my toddler do some of the cutting...
We can all make a difference so please share this & donate whatever you can.
Like many youths growing up in 90s/00s Britain the death of Stephen Lawrence left an indelible mark on me growing up.
The violence of that tragic night nearly 30 years ago laid bare the endemic racism in our society and the police force at the time. A stark example of what bigotry can lead to if unchecked, unchallenged and left to fester in our institutions. It took nearly 2 decades to bring about systemic change yet it's clear from recent events that there is more to do today. We cannot afford to wait that long again.
Black lives matter.
For our future - as always, education is the key. A drive towards inclusive education and opportunities no matter your background, skin tone or where you were born. The Stephen Lawrence foundation is making this a reality for children across the UK.
These children will see a fairer and more equal society and will rightly hold us all to account for the way we face this challenge. We can do better.
End the Dread.
