Story

Emma Woods wonder women (and 2 children) want to raise money for the Heart of Kent Hospice for all the help and support they are providing to our beautiful friend Emma so we are running the 5k rainbow run at mote park on the 27th September 2015.

This is Emma's story.........

'After being diagnosed with a brain tumour back in 2011 my beautiful wife Emma and her life has never really been the same since. She had Brain Surgery to resect what they could at Kings College Hospital and required Radiotherapy only days after our wedding in 2012. They say time is a healer but unfortunately there just hasn’t been enough of it because as of April this year we had terrible news that there was a recurrence of the tumour. The only option to fight was to start Chemotherapy. Whether this treatment helps slow the growth or not she now, tragically, knows only too well this awful and destructive cancer will take her life far quicker than we had ever dared imagine.'

'Friends and family have been amazing throughout Emma’s challenges. The surgeons, doctors and nurses have all been incredible. But our recent introduction to The Heart Of Kent Hospice has been a genuine lifeline. Within days of our introduction we had a home visit and instant help with the more mundane areas of our worries and answers to the more complicated ones. The knowledge and experience is staggering and has enabled Emma to have access to essential advice, equipment and a helping hand towards being as independent as she can be. The most essential part of what The Heart of Kent Hospice provides is a warm compassionate touch with encouragement and a genuine concern for Emma’s well being.'
