We support people with Spinal Cord Injury to help them live full, independent lives

Story

Hi

I am doing the Great London Swim on 26th May @ 10.30. This is swimming 1 mile of the River Thames in the centre of London(ish...im not clued up on London locations). 50% of the money raised will go to Aspire, the other 50% will go to Maryport Inshore Rescue.

For those that know me I absolutely love swimming. I have already raised money for Aspire when I was 13, swimming the equivalent distance of the channel over 10 sessions. For the great support they give to people with Spinal Injuries http://www.aspire.org.uk/whatwedo/default.aspx. My mum has also revently had spinal surgery and, thankfully, made a good recovery.

.
Also, I am a Maryport girl. I miss living by the coast and walks down the prom. Maryport Inshore Rescue is an independant rescue service, looking after the north Cumbrian coast and Solway Firth. It runs on volunteers who go out in all weather conditions to help those stranded and save lives. Whether you are on the prom, beach or venture out on a boat, you never know when you  might need them.

This will be my first time ever swimming in open water so is quite scary, will probably be cold and lets face it, the Thames isn't the cleanest of rivers around I expect. But I am very excited for it (now just gotta find a wet suit :)

Please donate kindly to these two brilliant charities, whether it is a little or a lot, it will be appreciated.

Hours later I will be supporting my gorgeus boyfriend at the start and finish line of the London-Brighton Night Time Bike Ride. You could also spare some change and sponsor him too at
