Bupa Great Manchester Run 2011 · 15 May 2011 ·
Hi everyone,
On 15th May 2011 I will be doing the Bupa 10k Great Manchester Run in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support - I am quite possibly insane but it's all for a good cause and it's done a great job of getting me off my bum and into the gym so I do intend to do this well!
My mum is currently working as a nurse specialist for Macmillan and they really do a fantastic job helping to care for those who have recently been receiving treatment for cancer, whether it be chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery - members of my own family have benefitted from the care given by these wonderful people, so it really is a cause close to my own heart. Cancer really does totally consume the lives of those affected, and it really does make all the difference to receive the proper care and treatment when going through this difficult time.
Any donations are much appreciated, no matter how small - I will be doing the race officially on behalf of Macmillan and have to raise at least £250, which hopefully I can get to with all of your help! It really does mean a lot knowing that I have your support in this, as quite frankly I'm absolutely terrified about running that far! Anyone who knows me will know I am not really the type to do something that requires this much exertion, but I am taking it very seriously and training religiously - I've done 5ks before but this is taking it to a whole new level for me, which I'm kind of loving as well as being totally petrified, and I really want to do Macmillan proud!
Many thanks for any donations given, will be bestowing hugs and tea (and possibly cake) in abundance upon those who get involved :)
