Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been wanting to fundraise for JDRF for some time now.  I have been aware of the impact of the condition for a few years due to friends whose children have been diagnosed and seeing how incredibly they handled their diagnosis and subsequent lifestyle change.  I then became partly responsible for two children at the school where I work who were diagnosed aged 3 & 5.  The way these two bright girls handle what is thrown at them on a daily basis continues to astound and inspire me.  A stream of blood tests, injections, prodding, people staring, eating, drinking, more prodding and that's just in the 6 hours they are at school.  They take it all in their stride and with a smile on their face.  If I can do something, however small, to raise awareness and/or funds towards research, then it's the least I can do.

Of course, it's also a personal challenge for me!  I pledged to myself in the two year run up to being 40, I would complete a list of 40 new things #40before40 and a skydive and a chartable act, tick two of those off my list.
