Story
We are raising funds for The Borders General Hospital's Margaret Kerr Palliative Care Unit, in memory of Emma's sister, Matilda Jaffray, who spent her last days within their care. Matilda was diagnosed with glioblastoma in July 2019 and bravely outlived her diagnosis until she passed away in February 2022. The facilities available to her at The Margaret Kerr Unit allowed her last days to be spent with family and close friends in a private, dignified, caring space. We would like to raise funds for the Margaret Kerr Unit in order to ensure their care and facility continues to be available for other families in need of a place of safety and comfort when living through the unimaginable sadness and hopelessness of end of days critical care. Matilda was one of the keenest walkers we have ever known and her pace was always tough to keep up with. However, she would always slow down just a wee bit to let slackers like me keep up. We will try to set our pace to Tilda's but if we can't keep it up we will be picturing her just up ahead of us. We will think of her often throughout our walking time and think on how she would have loved to join us...and perhaps she will! Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
