Story
Much to the horror of my nearest & dearest it’s happening, again… yes last year I enjoyed the London Marathon just so much I just had to go back and do it all over.
Last year I claimed one of the rarer-than-rare ballot spots. This year I’m running courtesy of RNIB.
‘Why RNIB?’ I hear you cry. Or ‘who even are RNIB?’ as some have asked.
For anyone who doesn’t know, RNIB = Royal National Institute for the Blind.
Why? A few years ago I had a dentist injection which resulted in the temporary loss of sight in one eye. Thankfully full vision returned an hour or so later, but it was a frightening experience that stuck with me.
Whilst my experience in no way compares to someone who lives their day-to-day with a visual impairment, ever since I’ve felt very grateful for something that is otherwise easy to take for granted. So this year I’m only too pleased to say I, together with your kind donations, can do something doing something bigger for those less fortunate.
So thank you RNIB for allowing me to be part of the team, and everyone else for your support.
