Another year, another challenge!
CSC Recruitment undertakes various fundraising activities on an annual basis and since 2015 our efforts have been geared towards brainstrust.
We are only a small business of 37 staff so back in 2015 when one of the team was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour it was a matter close to all of our hearts and there was no question that we had to support her in any way possible. In 2016, following a successful operation, surgeons removed 95% of the growth which is the best outcome for this type of rare tumour.
Christmas 2016 then brought more heart-breaking news within the business when another of our team was diagnosed with a different type of brain tumour. Again she has undergone surgery to remove this which has resulted in the successful removal of 100% of the growth but has unfortunately left her without sight in one eye.
For both ladies, there is a lot of care and attention required moving forward to ensure long, happy, healthy lives and brainstrust are instrumental in assisting with this process. They offer very personal support which is tailored to the individual’s needs as well as providing financial aid to ensure that patients receive the very best possible care and treatment.
In addition to ensuring that all of Brainstrust’s patients have the big things catered for: speech therapy, physical therapy, surgical appointments with top specialists, they are also there to guide people through recovery and the day to day issues.
So what are we going to do? Each year it seems only fair that we hurt ourselves if we are going to be badgering you for money, so this year is no different. In September a group of 14 of us will be undertaking the Yorkshire Three Peaks which is typically completed in around 12 hours. We will be setting off shortly after 6am and endeavouring to get back to base before the sun goes down!
If last years National Three Peaks challenge is anything to go by the weather could easily be against us and with heavy winds and torrential rain the task has the potential to become infinitely more challenging.
Your support here is invaluable. Any donations will be so gratefully received and we hope that we can count on your generous support for yet another year. Brainstrust is a charity which year on year has continued to demonstrate just how essential they are and it is so important that people support them so that they can continue to support those who so desperately need it!
