Fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My friend Claire and I decided to start running around the start of October to get fit after having our 3rd babies. We needed a goal and decided the 10K would be a good start and therefore it made sense to raise money for a worthy cause too. Cat, one of my best friends has a cousin with a daughter Phoebe who is aged 2 has been very ill with leukemia and only managed to be at home for 2 hours on Christmas day. Through this very difficult time they have been supported by the charity Clic Sargent. I wanted to be able to support them and other families in similar situations too by raising money.
Below is a short summary from my friend Cat explaining Phoebe's story.
"Phoebe is a beautiful 2 year old little girl who lives in Waterlooville, she has a smile that would melt a million hearts…. She also has cancer…
Phoebe was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) in November 2012. Since that time she has had 2 rounds of chemo, countless bags of blood and platelets, 24 hour round the clock care, intrusive tubes attached to her and machines bleeping throughout the day and night, and still manages to keep that amazing smile.
Phoebe has spent most of the last 3 months at the Piam Brown Ward in Southampton where they treat very sick children with cancer. There has been occasions when Phoebe has been so poorly it has been necessary for her parents and big brother Oliver (4) to be as near to the hospital as possible. This is where C L I C Sargeant come to the rescue. There is only room for one parent to stay with Phoebe so the use of the C L I C haven has been a God send. It is a fully equipped house right next to Southampton General where Oliver and Daddy can stay right by Phoebe and most importantly it has a playstation which Oliver loves!
The C L I C Haven is funded entirely by charitable donations. Without these donations it just would not be possible for parents desperately wanting to be near there child to do so. "
I hope this story inspires you to donate, please give what you can, any small amount would be gratefully recieved. Thank you xxx
