Story
In June 2022, we received some devestating news. My mum was diagnosed with an extremely rare type of cancer, that affects 1 in 2.5million. Olfactory Neuroblastoma. Fast-forward to August 2022, mum underwent major surgery at John Radcliffe Hospital, to remove the tumour. The surgery came with lots of risks, but after the surgery being a success and only 6 nights on the ward she was incredibly discharged! In November and December 2022, mum underwent an intensive 6 week course of Proton Beam Therapy in London, which was a tough time for us all, but I'm so proud of how mum took it in her stride. The post-surgery and post-treatment scan has shown there is no visible cancer - unbelievable!! Whilst this certainly doesn't put mum in the clear, as there are a variety of ways in which the cancer my return, it's the best news we could have possibly hoped for. The team at John Radcliffe have been incredible and will continue to care for my mum for the rest of her life, so I'm completing a 100ft abseil to raise some money for this wonderful place :)
