I'm taking on this brand-new challenge for Brain Tumour Research and will walk, run and bike 200k in May to raise vital funds and awareness to help find a cure for brain tumours. Follow my training journey on instagram.com/dr_emmaclaire
My amazing Mum died of a Glioblastoma in 2023, after being diagnosed in 2021. The care she received from day 1 was amazing but after her initial operation the options for treatment were sparse and there was no cure.
The story is similar for most people with this diagnosis, and I’d like to help change the ending of this terrible story for people in the future.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. They are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.
