Story
In support of this year’s chosen charity, Dementia UK, 50 members of our team will be tackling the steep hills and rugged cliff tops of the Jurassic Coast in our Jurassic Coast Challenge. This tough challenge will see our team hiking an incredible 14.5 miles along the stunning world heritage coastline, to raise money for Dementia UK.
My Uncle Brian passed away from this cruel disease last year. Uncle Brian was much loved by so many, he was always the life and soul of every family get together. My last memory of Uncle Brian was at my Mums belated 70th Birthday last March - we had several wonderful glimpses of the old Uncle Brian making everyone laugh but also reminders that he wasn't himself any more. The impact of seeing him slip away as dementia took hold has been unbearable for his close family. And horribly sad for the whole family who saw how much it affected them all. Another memory I will hold dear forever is when Uncle Brian agreed to do a speech at my wedding since my own father had long gone. His speech was brilliant and funny we all laughed. Thank you Uncle Brian.
Andy's Nan died from dementia many years ago now. I think this disease touches so many in so many ways.
Honestly any donation will mean a lot. We know now isn't the best time to try to fund raise but would really like to do this for Uncle Brian. You never know we might help another family, we might help fund medicine to help delay the onset or maybe one day a cure :-)
