Story
Update - yey, I did it, 26 miles, 10 hours 3 minutes, including two pitstops plus lunch, 65,000 steps and no blisters - very happy. It was so lovely to have Mark & Grace at the finish line, with their home-made banner, and I never realised how good, prosecco would taste, out of a plastic glass, until Saturday.
It was certainly a challenge, both mentally and physically but I was determined to do it, compared to what people have to go through, battling cancer, its nothing.
Thank you so much for all the support and amazing donations, it will make a big difference to those who need the support.
I have signed up and committed to doing the hike for all those who have suffered or are suffering from this awful disease, including my dear Mum in Law, Shirley, who we lost to lung cancer in 2018. Also for all those who have a loved one who is currently fighting this disease, or have lost a loved one to it.
The Macmillan nurses were a fantastic support to Shirley, after her diagnosis, both practically and emotionally. I used the Helpline a couple of times, too when I needed to talk. This was the first time our family had experienced the work of Macmillan, and it really helped all of us, at such a sad time.
I have always loved walking. At 26 miles though, this is very different from my usual walks, and now I work from home, I have to make a bigger effort to get my steps in, however I feel it is the least I can do to help Macmillan to help others.
Thanks for supporting my fundraising.
