Story
I first met Daniel on a school trip, he was in primary 1, he blew me away with his kindness and thoughtfulness towards Emma,
last December we got the heartbreaking news that Daniel had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
At the beginning of his journey he was feeling very unwell, in addition to being petrified of the numerous medical investigations he had to endure including blood tests, bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, as well as intravenous, spinal and tablet chemotherapy and having to spend Christmas in hospital.
Daniel has to have a large proportion of the first 6 months of treatment, out of total 3 years treatment, 170 miles from home. Clic Sargent has been able to provide a room in Marion's House, a 'home from home' in Glasgow, for families of children being treated for cancer. This is truly an invaluable resource. His family had this room for 8 weeks, allowing them to be together as much as possible, and especially on Christmas morning. At times such as this the importance of having a ‘space’ where the family can be together cannot be underestimated. Clic Sargent also provide ongoing clinical, practical and emotional support for them all as they continue their journey to fight Daniel’s illness.
Tomorrow Emma and Bob will be running /wheeling with Daniel and other palls/mums/dads and teachers to raise money for this fantastic charity
