Story
I'm going to Live Below the Line from 28th April to 2nd May 2014 - see full challenge details here: https://www.livebelowtheline.com/uk
Basically living for £1 a day for all my food and drink - none can be donated to me (or stolen!), foraged and grown would be ok but you've got to take in production costs, so a pretty tight challenge!
In fact this is going to be seriously tough. What can you buy to satisfy your hunger and thirst all day for only £1? AND FOR FIVE DAYS?!
But this is the challenge that people around the world face everyday, including orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in Malawi who Friends of Mulanje Orphans (FOMO) support in health, education and vitally, food. Every FOMO registered child gets one main meal a day, usually rice or nsima (a maize flour and water mix) with beans and sometimes vegetables if budgets will stretch that far. This basic food sustains people in Malawi, who often have very little surplus money to spend on food and drink and grow as much of their food as possible themselves.
As most of you will know I have been to Malawi twice for a total of 6 months, and got to know the people and heart of Mulanje district well, loving their joy and spirit and especially their love of football! FOMO are the backbone of life for 5000 children in Mulanje and it is their tireless work and commitment that has inspired me to take up this challenge.
Please help me support a wonderful, worthwhile cause and show your solidarity with me and all of FOMO by being generous with your sponsorship.
Thank you so much, Emma :)
