Story

Hello!

I'm taking part in a sponsored Skydive for a charity that I am passionate about and work for. The Carers' Centre in Bath & NE Somerset supports unpaid carers - anyone who looks after someone who couldn't manage without them, because they're elderly, have a mental or physical disability or illness, or are dealing with substance misuse problems.

Many carers that I work with are just children, who miss out on a typical childhood because of their caring role. Others are parents of children with additional needs, or partners looking after their loved one. We met a carer last week who had not left his house for four years as he spends all his time looking after his wife, who has Alzheimer's disease. Last week was the first time he had had an afternoon to himself as he joined us on a break.

Carers sacrifice a great deal to look after the person (or people) who need them most - so I'm giving up my comfort zone (here on the ground) to raise vital funds so the Carers' Centre can continue to do their work.

The centre provides practical and emotional support, breaks and respite, and information and advice to people who very much need it.  Please give generously. Thank you x

About the charity

We help anyone caring for a loved one who cannot manage on their own. Caring takes time and energy and can be tiring, stressful and lonely. Through expert advice, a listening ear and breaks from caring, we enable carers to manage their role and have time for a life of their own.
