Hello,
My name is Emma and I am 8 years old.
I was born on 22 of May 2016 and after a few weeks I was diagnosticated with a rare genetic disease called Incotinentia Pigmenti. When I was 6 months old my parents noticed that I am not able to sit by my own, crawl or keep my balance. My illness is affecting my nervous system so I am facing Gross motor difficulties and Development impairment, these means that I am not able to walk, crawl, sit or stand independently. I spend my last 7 years from a therapist to another looking for a change, even a small one, but lately the progress is quite low due to the stiffness in my arms and legs which it`s stopping me to learn new movements.
I love going to school, I made a lot of new friends in there and everyone is happy to see me. I like books and numbers and enjoy playing with my little brother Yanis, I can not wait to run and play outside with him.
About 2 years ago I put all my hopes in the SPML intervention and with help of a lot of people me and my family travel in Greece to do it. At this moment we have to work very hard in order to gain strength and develop new neuronal connection hoping that will help me to be independent. The cost of therapies is quite hight considering the number of sessions required for improvement and my family is struggling to pay for them.
So please, help me in my journey I promise I will share my first steps with you and even the smallest contribution will means a lot to me.
Thank you for reading my story,
Emma Elena Timofte
